Clay Visits Afghanistan - Fundraising Challenge!
Clay recently returned from a five day field mission to Afghanistan with UNICEF as part of his Goodwill Ambassador duties. The purpose of the mission was to observe and report on UNICEF's programs in education and healthcare for women and children. Clay wrote about his experiences in UNICEF's field notes blog and a short video on his work can be seen on the international UNICEF site. He visited schools and health clinics and administered an oral polio vaccine to an Afghani baby. At the end of his visit, he met with the international press about his observations, where spoke about the progress Afghanistan has made and the work still to be done. The Insider also reported on Clay's trip this week.

Upon his return, UNICEF published Clay's Appeal for Afghanistan and issued a challenge to raise $100,000 in 10 days. The goal was reached in just 7 days and the last reported donation level was $150,802.31. UNICEF wants to see if the original challenge can be doubled to bring even more school supplies to the children of this devastated and beautiful region. According to UNICEF, "If this campaign raises $200,000, UNICEF could provide 333 tents or 970 water pumps. What a powerful way to make a difference in the lives of thousands of kids in Afghanistan." Let's help push the number over $200,000! To donate, please visit Clay's Appeal page.
